The ticking is woven from wool and viscose for a soft feel against the skin, while the viscose adds long-lasting durability in a fabric designed to withstand decades of use. Layered beneath, Devonshire fleece wool offers immediate give by loosening fibers to promote airflow, helping air move freely through the wool and maintaining comfortable temperatures through the night. A deeper layer of British fleece wool adds depth and resilience, ensuring the surface remains even and does not compress unevenly over time.
The spring system features a single tier of 1,716 hand-nested, calico-pocketed Vanadium steel coils in a King size, with each spring housed in its own calico pocket to respond independently to weight. Vanadium steel maintains its tension longer than standard carbon steel, a key reason it is used across the range. Available in Soft, Medium, Firm, and Extra Firm tensions, the Devonshire can be split at the center for different partner preferences in King sizes. Two rows of hand side-stitching reinforce the border coils to keep the sleeping surface firm and consistent to the very edge, while hand-tufting with felt washers anchors fillings at regular intervals to prevent lateral shifting over years of use.
